The Computational Grid is an important emerging paradigm for organizing and sharing computing, network, storage
and instrument resources in large-scale applications.
In Singapore, the Bioinformatics Centre of NUS has held a
BioGRID computing symposium on the
26th October 2001 to focus on Computational Grids in the diverse fields of Life Sciences. We are following it up with another GRID computing
symposium on 11 Dec 2001 on GRID computing, Supercomputers and Bioinformatics -
SuperBioGRID'01.
The SuperBioGrid Computing Symposium 2001 in Singapore will bring together participants from an interdisciplinary background
to learn about supercomputers vis-a-vis grid applications and infrastructure with the aim of planning and discussing future directions for
grid development in the life sciences for the Asia Pacific Region beginning in Singapore. A lot of interest has been generated and we are trying to keep up the momentum..
SuperBioGRID'01 participants will endeavour to implement GRID supercomputing technologies
in their own institutions and collaborate with each other on bioinformatics
projects as discussed in the
biogrid@apbionet.org mailing list of
APBioNet.
